1Getting Started - Installing DirectoryPress
Download and Upload The DirectoryPress Theme File
Firstly, DirectoryPress is a Wordpress Theme. You MUST have Wordpress installed and you MUST upload the DirectoryPress theme folder to your wordpress themes directory.
The DirectoryPress download is a .ZIP file which contains the theme and numerous other files so make sure you extract it on your desktop and ONLY upload the folder named 'directorypress' to your Wordpress Themes folder.
This is commonly: /wp-content/themes/
NOTE: You should only upload the folder named 'directorypress' to your wordpress themes folder.
Do not upload the entire download and MAKE SURE you do not rename the folder.
IT MUST BE 'directorypress' for it to work correctly.
Once you have upload the folder 'directorypress' to your Wordpress theme directory you must then login to the admin area, click on 'Appearence' -> 'Themes' to view all the available Wordpress themes and the DirectoryPress theme should now be present.
Click and activate the theme to get started!.

Setting Up DirectoryPress for the first time.
There are 3 main steps to setting up your DirectoryPress for the first time, they are;

- 02. Adding The Pages
- 03. Adjusting The Links
01.Updating The Settings
Once you have activated the theme you should be able to see a new list of administrations tools available to you in the admin area.
These can be found on the left hand menu bar along with the other Wordpress admin options. See the image below;

You need to go through each of the option pages available and configure your website and update the settings for each. Refer to the manul for more help on each section.
Once you have completed each page in the admin you can move onto the next step.
02. Adding The Pages
DirectoryPress theme requires you to setup a number of pages in order for the member account pages, contact page, articles page and submit listings to work correctly.
Setting up these pages is very easy, simply follow the steps below;
1. Login to the Wordpress admin and click to add a new page.

2. Give the page title a memorable one such as 'contact page', 'articles page', ' account page' etc.
3.Now you need to select the template type from the attributes area in the bottom right hand side

You need to create a total of 5 pages and select 1 template for each page so by the end you have 5 pages one for each of the templates available.

Once you have all 5 pages setup, you can move onto the next step.
03. Adjusting The Links
The last step to setting up your DirectoryPress website is to adjust the links in the settings to link to the newly created pages.
This is very easy, just follow the steps below
1. Login to the admin area and click on the DirectoryPress Admin Options -> General Setup.

2. From the options available select the 'Directory Pages and Articles' tab.

3. All you need todo is copy/paste the full http://... link of each of the pages available into the boxes provided, this will then make all the links on your website work correctly.

Adding Listings and Custom Fields
Creating new directory listings within your wordpress blog is very simple and works exactly the same way as creating normal blogs in wordpress.
DirectoryPress also has a number of 'reserved' custom fields which you can use to manipulate the way your posts are displayed.
Refer to the table below for more information on what custom fields are used in Classifieds Theme.

4DirectoryPress - Adding Articles
Adding articles to your website.
Adding articles is no different from adding new posts except you add an extra custom field called 'type' with the value 'article.

Make sure you add all your articles to an Article category which you can add if you don't already have one setup.
